Foxtrot 6 week course. 7.15 - 8.15pm.
The Foxtrot is a favorite among many Ballroom dancers... think about the smooth dancing of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Because of it's smoothness it is often referred to as the Rolls Royceof the Ballroom dances. Once you learn the Foxtrot, you really feel like a dancer!!
Quickstep 6 week course. 8.15 - 9.15pm.
Elegant, smooth and glamorous, the Quickstep is a Ballroom dance composed of extremely quick stepping and syncopated feet rhythms in time to fast-paced music. It should appear that the feet of the dancers barely touch the ground. Dancers should strive for elegance and upper body posture should be straight and strong throughout each movement.
West Coast Swing 6 week course. 9.15 - 10.15pm.
Originating in the United States, as all forms of Swing did, the West Coast Swing has a totally different look than Lindy Hop Swing, it's predecessor. The music used is usually slow to medium tempo, which is slower than traditional swing music. West Coast can be danced to many different types of music, such as, country western, pop tunes, disco, rhythm and blues, traditional swing and the big band sound, etc. It is characterised by a distinctive elastic look and is danced primarily in a slotted area on the dance floor. It allows for both partners to improvise steps while dancing together. Because the man and lady are not doing the exact mirror opposite foot patterns, this dance is generally considered a more advanced form of swing and a basic dance knowledge is helpful when starting to learn.
